Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC in charge of Health, and Freddy Thielemans, Mayor of Brussels, participated on 28 May 2008 in a kick off event of the EC funded 'HELP – for a life without tobacco' campaign, to mark the World No Tobacco Day 2008, having as main theme "Tobacco-free youth". The EC funded 'HELP for a Life without Tobacco' campaign was launched in 2005 and targets young people (15-25). It uses multi media messages to address 3 themes of tobacco control: prevention, cessation and dangers of passive smoking. The HELP campaign organised tobacco prevention activities in all 27 EU Member States from 28-31 May 2008. Several activities took place, like a Carbon Monoxide testing for general population, 'wheel of misfortune' quiz show, display of young people's tobacco control activities and HELP materials distribution.
