Following the Transatlantic Economic Council, Günter Verheugen, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Enterprise and Industry, and Daniel Price, co-Chairman of the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) gave a joint press conference.
The European Commission announced that it will propose changes to EU regulations that will allow the importation of poultry meat processed using pathogen reduction treatments, as well as the use of such treatments in EU Member States in the production of poultry meat for consumption in the EU. Further, the Commission expressed its determination to find an agreed solution to this issue, working with Member States and the European Parliament, before the next TEC meeting, planned for autumn 2008.
The European Commission will also take concrete action to ensure that trade in cosmetics and personal care products is not disrupted by REACH implementation.

||Daniel Price, saying (in ENGLISH) on REACH, that this action should ensure that products legally on the EU market before June 2008 are allowed to remain in the EU market; that in addition they discussed the lift for legislative amendments to ensure great certainty to avoid any discriminatory treatment.
