EU/Serbia: extracts from the joint press conference by Olli Rehn, Boris Tadić, President of Serbia, and Dimitrij Rupel, on the signature of the Stabilization and the Association Agreement (SAA)

Following their meeting, Olli Rehn, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement, Boris Tadić, President of Serbia, and Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenian Minister for Foreign Affairs and President in office of the Council, gave a joint press conference on the signature of the Stabilization and the Association Agreement (SAA) by the 27 EU Member States.
Dimitrij Rupel encouraged Serbian authorities to show commitment to the European values, rules and principles, including the full cooperation with the ICTY in The Hague.
Boris Tadić reaffirmed Serbia's determination to do everything it can to arrest and deliver all remaining indictees to ICTY.
Still on the Balkans, Olli Rehn welcomed the decision by the Council to sign the SAA shortly with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

||Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenian Minister for Foreign Affairs and President in office of the Council, saying (in ENGLISH) that the moment has come to Serbia to adopt good decisions; that the Serbs should show that they accept European principles, rules and values; that the main thing is full cooperation of Serbia with ICTY; that this is one of the conditions that have been written into the text.
||Olli Rehn, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement, saying (in ENGLISH) on Bosnia and Herzegovina, that he welcomed that the country has made the necessary progress for the Council to decide to sign the SAA shortly; that for Bosnia and Herzegovina, this is a milestone that marks a new stage in their relations.
||Boris Tadić, President of Serbia, saying (in SERBIAN) that this agreement does not prejudice any future status of Kosovo; that, as President of Serbia, he will continue to protect the integrity of Serbia but at the same time, he will do everything he can in order for Serbia to be able to find its European future, to ensure better living standards and better future for its young people and all the citizens of Serbia; that they are all doing it in a European way defending their territorial integrity in a European way; that they are guided by the principles of peace and negotiation; that they want to have the best possible relations with all the Balkans nations including the Albanians, the Bosnians, the Croats, the Montenegrins and the Macedonians.
||Boris Tadić saying (in ENGLISH) on Serbia's cooperation with ICTY, that Serbia is going to fulfill all obligations and promises regarding full cooperation with ICTY; that they are doing that because of them and not because of the EU and The Hague tribunal; that they are doing that because of human standards and reconciliation between Balkans people, and for creating better conditions for developing their country; that's why they could not capture and deliver all indictees before the signature of SAA; that he is trying to convince everyone that they are doing everything that is in their power.
