A delegation of the European Commission went to China to meet with the Chinese governement in April 2008. José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, reiterated that the European Union supports China's territorial integrity and deems Tibet is part of China. José Manuel Barroso met with Wen Jiabao, Chinese Prime Minister, and with Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China. He also attended a picture exhibition and a seminar on climate change.
