Type: Visit to the Commission
End production: 24/04/2008 First transmission: 24/04/2008
Franco Bernabè, CEO of Telecom Italia, was in Brussels on 24 April 2008 for a meeting with Viviane Reding, Member of the EC in charge of Information Society and Media. They discussed the current agenda including the implementation of the roaming regulation and the next steps beyond the 2007 reform of the telecom rules. Italian consumers using landlines should see cheaper bills after the country's telecoms regulator agreed to a European Commission request to cut connection fees. Italian telecoms watchdog Agcom has recently agreed that so-called fixed termination rates alternative operators can charge be cut to the same level as those incumbent Telecom Italia is allowed to levy.
