||Viviane Reding, Member of the EC in charge of Information Society and Media, (in ENGLISH) saying that it is the first time in history of mankind that the youth know more than the adults and that the students know more than the teachers; that is not very comfortable when you have an eleven year old who tells an engineer what engineering is about in software and hardware; that is a big opportunity of our time and if we know how to handle this and to put it in the right position, we are all on the winning side, the adults, the parents, the teachers and the kids
||Viviane Reding (in ENGLISH) saying that children identify school as a place where they get information; that is a question of credibility; it is important that there are these credible elements in the life of the kids; normally it is parents and schools; they have to empower parents and schools in order to play this role as credible answer; 43% of the teachers get questions from pupils on these issues; they have to empower teachers to be capable to answer these questions
||Viviane Reding (in ENGLISH) saying that the content is everywhere and we cannot in all and every moment protect the children against this content; so let's empower them, let them choose what they want to see and evaluate the implications of that choice; even if at eleven years old they think they are great, they do not have the experience of life; that is the value added that adults have to give them, this experience of life, to show them how they can utilise to the best the new technology
