José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, made an official visit to Ireland on 17 and 18 April 2008. On the first day of his visit, after a press conference held with Bertie Ahern, Irish Prime Minister, he had lunch hosted by Brian Cowen, Taoiseach designate / Tánaiste (in Merrion Hotel, Dublin) and addressed a key speech at the National Forum on Europe, at the Dublin Castle.
