European ‘Lighten the Load’ Summit on Musculoskeletal Disorders, with the participation of Vladimír Špidla

On 26 February 2008, the closing event of the "Lighten the load" campaign was held at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao, Spain. Vladimír Špidla, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, gave an opening speech, as well as Jukka Takala, Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health. Marjeta Cotman, Slovenian Minister for Justice, Employment and Social Security and President in office of the Council, was also present. This European campaign focuses on Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) which are the most common work-related health problem in Europe, affecting millions of workers. For them, it is important to stay active and return to ordinary activities as early as possible.
