On an official visit to the European institutions, Yulia Tymoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine, met with Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, in Brussels.
They discussed the strengthening of the relationship between the European Union and Ukraine and next steps in co-operation between the European Commission and the new government. They reviewed the implementation of the European Neighbourhood Action Plan and the status of the current negotiations on an enhanced agreement extending the scope of this strategic relationship.
At a joint press briefing, Benita Ferrero-Waldner said she hoped that the reform process in Ukraine could pick up and go forward. The enhanced agreement is progressing quite well, she added.
Prime Minister Tymoshenko, speaking about energy issues, said that the common interest of the EU and Ukraine lies in diversification of supply of natural resources.
