Type: Visit to the Commission   Reference: I-055990   Duration: 10:31:56  Lieu:
End production: 18/12/2007   First transmission: 18/12/2007
Alan Doss, the newly-appointed United Nations Special Representative for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was in Brussels on 18 December 2007 for a meeting with Louis Michel, Member of the EC in charge of Development and Humanitarian Aid. They discussed the latest developments in the country and the related EU/UN cooperation. Alan Doss, a career diplomat and now Head of the UN mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was expected to start work in the country in January. The mission seems to be a knotty one as the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo turns fluid. The United Nations has already declared support for the government of President Kabila, while the rebels continue to remain intransigent to adhere to a truce.
