One day after the ceremony marking the signing of the Lisbon Treaty, the 27 EU Heads of State and Government gathered for the European Council in Brussels. The main outcome was the setting up of a new reflection group on the future of Europe up to 2020-30. This reflection group, including up to nine wise men, will reflect on topics such as: how to adapt economic success with solidarity, immigration policy, fighting terrorism, task related to climate change and to communicate better to citizens. The other important result was the sending of a European mission to Kosovo. Concerning the global approach to migration issues, the Heads of State agreed on a common approach and the Commission will present new proposals in 2008. The Council conclusions integrated two new paragraphs concerning the organisation of financial markets in the EU. Finally, there was an annexed declaration to the conclusions on globalisation, where the demand was expressed to guarantee international rules for fair trade and to strengthen international organisation in charge of over viewing social protection, product safety and environment.
