Type: Visit to the Commission
End production: 04/12/2007 First transmission: 04/12/2007
Donald Tusk, the new Polish Prime Minister, paid his first official visit to the European Commission in Brussels on 4 December 2007. He met with José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, for a working lunch devoted above all to the EU Reform Treaty and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. The siganture of the Charter is strongly opposed by the President of Poland. Talks also included disputes between Brussels and Warsaw before the European Court of Justice: about the EU Via Baltica route cutting through the Rospuda valley, the ban for Polish fishermen to catch cod, and a possible introduction of genetically modified plants in Poland.
