Kim Jong-hoon, South Korean Minister for Trade, met Peter Mandelson, Member of the EC in charge of Trade, to discuss on-going bilateral free trade negotiations. These talks aimed to reach a deal on lowering tariffs and opening up their markets to each other. The EU wants greater access to South Korea's markets for cars, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, while South Korea is asking the 27-nation European economic bloc to cut duties on electronics goods and auto parts.
