00:02:27 SOUNDBYTE (ENGLISH) Commissioner Benita FERRERO-WALDNER: "We have been very preoccupied about the situation in Burma/Myanmar. Why? Because it seems that more and more military forces are being gathered. And it is most important that the government really exercises maximum restraint in this situation because the poplulation is only exercising its inalienable right to assemble, to demonstrate peacefully, and I think the government should use the opportunity to open up an inclusive dialouge with the opposition, with the populations, with the monks, with the nuns, with the civilians that show courage. They are in dire need, so it is absolutely necessary. Again we urge the government to restrain maximum effort and not to be violent in any way." 00:01:01

00:04:48 SOUNDBYTE (ENGLISH) EC President José Manuel BARROSO - "It goes quicker, it is deeper than before. It is science and technology driven. It is not politically driven, in fact. Politicians are trying to react but they are not leading. It is scientific and technology driven. This globalization does not respect borders, or simple deliniation of different societies. It is a process by which trade, investment, technology, people, information, and culture all go global." 00:00:37
