EU/Lebanon: institutional cooperation (twinning on consumer protection)
End production: 30/08/2007 First transmission: 13/09/2007
Four twinning programmes are ongoing in Lebanon. One of them, targeting the consumer protection, is related and complementary to the Quality programme. This twining in partnership with the United Kingdom, aims at enhancing the capacity building of the consumer's protection department, set up at the Ministry of Economy. The department has been really active since an important awareness campaign was launched to promote the consumer protection law. The project will help the Ministry to improve the expertise in the field for inspectors that would be raised up to 160 persons for all Lebanon. The call centre set up at the ministry became a tool to gain confidence among consumers through a real follow up of each complaint.
