EU/Turkey Accession Conference: arrival and round table

The EU, represented by Frank-Walter Steinmeier, German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and President in office of the Council, and by Olli Rehn, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement, was set to open two new policy areas in membership negotiations with Turkey. They met Ali Babacan, Turkish Minister for Economy and Turkey's Chief EU Negotiator, at an accession conference in Brussels. The discussions were to focus on questions linked to legislation on statistics and financial control.
