End of Roaming fees - Illustration footage

3 367 views

As announced by President Juncker in his State of the Union Address, Europeans will stop paying roaming fees as of 15 June 2017. People will pay domestic prices, irrespective of where they are travelling in the EU for phone-calls, SMS and mobile internet. Minutes of calls, SMS and megabytes of data that a person consumes abroad within the EU will be charged the same as at home. No more shocking surprises when receiving your mobile bill. For a decade, the Commission has been working to reduce surcharges that telecoms operators imposed on their customers each time they crossed a border while using their mobile device on holiday or during business trips. In 2015, and based on a proposal of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council agreed to end roaming charges for people who travel periodically in the EU
