Visit of José Manuel Barroso to Israel: Ceremony of the Conferment of Honorary Degree
During his trip to Israel on 8 June 2014, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, was awarded with the Doctor Philosophiae Honoris Causa of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. President Barroso received the honours in recognition of his leadership and his vision for a prosperous, secure and sustainable Europe, and in tribute to his vehement condemnation of anti-Semitism, racism and faith-based discrimination, as well as in appreciation of his friendship for Israel and of his active advocacy of higher education, in particular the creation of academic chairs and student exchange programmes.
Furthermore, José Manuel Barroso participated in the 14th Annual Herzliya Security Conference, where he delivered a speech on 'Europe, Israel and the future of the Middle East'. PHOTO SHOTLIST
