Visit of Matteo Renzi, Italian Prime Minister, to José Manuel Barroso: welcome and round table

On 20 March 2014 in the margin of the European Council, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received the new Matteo Renzi, the new Italian Prime Minister, in Brussels. It was their first bilateral meeting after the Prime Minister's taking up office. They exchanged views on a charged summit agenda, notably on Ukraine and Russia as well as on economic matters like the European Semester and industrial competitiveness. They also discussed the reform efforts of Italy.
