Foreign Affairs Council, 3304th meeting: extracts from the doorsteps
On 17 March 2014, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, chaired the 3304th meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council, in Brussels.
The Council debated on the situation in Ukraine and the EU’s Eastern Partnership more generally. The EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs also discussed on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ministers then debated how best to support on-going efforts in the Middle East peace process.
The Council addressed developments related to the crisis in Syria and its regional context. The EU Ministers prepared also the EU/Africa Summit, to be held on 2/3 April in Brussels.
Catherine Ashton was also expected to shortly de-brief Ministers on her recent visit to Iran.
Energy diplomacy was also on the agenda.
