Extracts from the press conference by Neelie Kroes, on Internet Governance

On 12 February 2014, Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Digital Agenda, gave a press conference on Internet Governance. In the wake of large-scale Internet surveillance and reduced trust in the internet, the EC proposed a key reform to the way the Internet was managed and run. The proposal called for more transparent, accountable and inclusive governance. The Commission firmly supported a real multi-stakeholder governance model for the Internet based on the full involvement of all relevant actors and organisations.
