José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the launch event of the Word exhibition 2015; EXPO 2015 Milan.
The 2015 Milan Universal Exhibition intended to develop a socio-economic and evidence-based debate on food security and sustainable practices under the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life". With 20 million expected visitors on site and 1 billion online visitors, the EXPO aimed to be a platform to promote a dialogue on food quality, food safety and public health at all levels.
