Opinion of the Court of Justice of the EU in the case Commission v Spain (C-184/1) on Law governing the institutions

On 23 January 2014, Nils Wahl, Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the EU, read the opinion given by the Court of Justice of the EU in the case C-184/11 Commission v Spain on Law governing the institutions. The Court was proposed to impose a fine of €50 million on Spain for failing to recover aid illegally granted in the Basque Country. By not recovering all the aid before this case was brought, Spain has failed to comply with a 2006 judgment ordering the recovery.
