Elysée Summit for Peace and Security in Africa with the participation of José Manuel Barroso
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Paris where he participated in the Elysée Summit for Peace and Security in Africa with François Hollande, President of the French Republic, and Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council. This Summit was also the occasion to pay tribute to Neslon Mandela, former President of South Africa, who died on 06/12/2013. Discussions also focused on the economic partnership and development, and climate change. Around 53 delegations from African countries and France took part in the Summit, as well as representatives from the UN, the African Union, the EU, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the African Development Bank (ADB).
