European Development Days with the participation of José Manuel Barroso and Andris Piebalgs
On 26 November 2013, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, participated in the launch event of the 8th European Development Days 2013.
Addressing world leaders and eminent figures from politics and academia, from the private sector and civil society, working in the field of development, José Manuel Barroso highlighted in his keynote speech the importance of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in making poverty a focus for the world attention.
Among the participants there were Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of Liberia, Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Niger, José Maria Pereira Neves, Cape Verdean Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica, and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairwoman of the African Union Commission (AUC).
