E3/EU+3 with Iran talks in Geneva: statement by Catherine Ashton

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, went to Geneva where she participated in the E3/EU+3 talks with Iran over the nuclear programme of the country. The Vice-President notably met with Mohammed Javad Zarif, Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs. They together reached an agreement on Iran talks; it was a major breakthrough for global security and stability. It was important that all parties continued to cooperate in a constructive spirit in the implementation of the agreement so that clear guarantees could be given to the international community regarding the peaceful and civilian nature of Iran's nuclear programme as well as a full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This achievement was also a result of the EU's two track policy and a real testimony of the EU's attachment to regional and global stability. This video shows statements by Catherine Ashton about these negotiations.
