EU-Myanmar Task Force: plenary session and signing ceremony

The first EU-Myanmar Task Force took place in Yangon and Naypyidaw, in Myanmar/Burma, from 13 to 15 November 2013. The purpose of the Task Force is to provide comprehensive support to the transition in Myanmar/Burma by bringing together all of the tools and mechanisms – both political and economic (development aid, peace process support, investments) – available to the EU. On 15 November, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, Dacian Cioloş, Member of the EC in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Isabelle Durant, Vice-President of the EP, with U Thein Sein, President of Myanmar/Burma, participated in the plenary session in Naypyidaw. Catherine Ashton and U Thein Sein made speeches. Antonio Tajani, Andris Piebalgs and Dacian Cioloş signed Letters of Intent between the EU and Myanmar/Burma.
