EU/Myanmar Task Force: meeting between Catherine Asthon, Andris Piebalgs, Antonio Tajani and U Thein Sein
The first EU/Myanmar Task Force took place in Yangon and Naypyidaw, in Myanmar/Burma, from 13 to 15 November 2013.
The purpose of the Task Force is to provide comprehensive support to the transition in Myanmar/Burma by bringing together all of the tools and mechanisms – both political and economic (development aid, peace process support, investments) – available to the EU.
On 14 November, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC, Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, and Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, participated in a meeting and had dinner with U Thein Sein, President of Myanmar/Burma.
