Visit of Andris Piebalgs to El Salvador: 10/10/2013

On 10 October 2013, Andris Piebalgs, Member of the EC in charge of Development, visited Ciudad Mujer in El Salvador accompanied by Vanda Pignato, wife of Mauricio Funes, President of El Salvador. He announced that the EU would support the project with 3 million US dollars and would continue to support it also during the period 2014-2020. Ciudad Mujer is an initiative of the Salvadorian Government to guarantee the fundamental rights of Salvadoran women through specialized services such as sexual and reproductive health, comprehensive care for gender violence, economic empowerment and promotion of their rights. In addition, it has a child care area where children are cared for while their mothers receive different services.
