José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the 6th EU/South Africa Summit in Pretoria with Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa. The event took place on the same day of the celebration of the "Mandela Day" dedicated to Nelson Mandela and marking his contribution to the anti-apartheid struggle.
José Manuel Barroso and Herman van Rompuy also visited a humanitarian aid warehouse, used by "Stop Hunger Now", an international hunger relief agency. They both packed parcels containing food on this occasion.
