Participation of Viviane Reding in the debate on the Future of Europe, in Barcelona
On 23 February 2013, Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, participated in a debate with citizens in Barcelona, Spain.
Many questions focused on the impact of the economic crisis on citizen's lives. Viviane Reding praised the efforts of the Spanish government and people in putting the country on the track for fiscal stability and growth.
Many participants addressed the situation of Catalonia in Spain and in the EU. While defending cultural and linguistic diversity within the EU, Viviane Reding stressed the need for unity, not for division.
