Extracts from the participation of Viviane Reding and Cecilia Malmström in the EU/US Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Meeting
On 14 June 2013, Alan Shatter, Irish Minister for Justice and Equality, Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Cecilia Malmström, Member of the EC in charge of Home Affairs, and Eric Holder, US Attorney General, held a press conference following the EU-US Ministerial meeting on Justice and Home Affairs in Dublin. At the meeting, they raised bilateral issues such of data protection, ensuring good treatment for crimes victims and visa program. Discussions allowed both sides to be reinsured, the work will continue. Regarding the protection of crime victims, the meeting agreed on ensuring victims will be treated with fairness, dignity and respect in the criminal justice process.
