Launch event of the European Minerals Day with the participation of Antonio Tajani

On 24 May 2013, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, inaugurated the 4th edition of the European Minerals Day in the underground mine of calcium carbonate in Vipiteno, Italy. Antonio Tajani recalled that raw materials are crucial for European industry. Industrial minerals are essential not only for the majority of the manufacturing sector and the downstream industry, but also in engineering environment, such as for the treatment of water, and renewable energy. The objective of the European Minerals Day is to raise awareness of the importance of industrial minerals both in everyday life and in the European economy as a whole.
