The Marine Institute in association with Culture Ireland present the Longest River - an Arts, Music and Marine Science fusion.
Calway based Cois Cladaigh choir directed by Dr Brendan O'Connor, will perform a repertoire of traditional and contemporary choral music from Ireland and Europe. Soloist Deirbhile ni Bhrolchan will sing a sean-nós song entitled Liam O Raghallaigh. Uillean piper Eugene Lamb and Harpist Kathleen Loughnane will both provide unique performances of Irish and Baroque music.
The science of our oceans and deep seas that support life on earth and also showcasing the extreme marine environments around the world including the habitats of the recently discovered hydrothermal vents found at depths of 3000 metres along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, will be presented through a unique visual presentation of film and photography by Professor Delaney.
