Meeting between Members of the European Roundtable of Industrialists and José Manuel Barroso
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Berlin, where he took part in a discussion on European competitiveness with Members of the European Roundtable of Industrialists (ERT), Angela Merkel, German Federal Chancellor, and François Hollande, President of the French Republic.
The topics of the meeting included how Europe could generate growth and jobs for its citizens. In his statement ahead of the meeting José Manuel Barroso stressed a growth-friendly fiscal consolidation and the importance of addressing the social consequences of the crisis. The President also highlighted that competitiveness was not an end in itself.
