German Marshall Fund of the United States' Brussels Forum: speech by Herman van Rompuy and debate with the participation of Kristalina Georgieva
The German Marshall Fund of the United States' Brussels Forum was held from 15 to 17 March 2013.
On 15 March, Herman van Rompuy, President of the Council, delivered a speech on "What does the future hold for Europe?". Then Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, took part in the session on "From Mali to Syria – Dealing with a Troubled Neighbourhood". She gave her view on the humanitarian perspective of the Syrian conflict. The other panellists were Justin Vaïsse, Director of the Centre for Analysis, Planning, and Strategy at the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Wendy Sherman, US Under Secretary for Political Affairs, and Louise Arbour, President and CEO of the International Crisis Group.
