Signature ceremony of the Accession Treaty of Croatia with the participation of José Manuel Barroso

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, participated in the signature ceremony of the Accession Treaty of Croatia to the EU. Ivo Josipović, President of Croatia, Jadranka Kosor, Croatian Prime Minister, and the Heads of State or Government of the EU signed the Treaty notably in the presence of Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, Jerzy Buzek, President of the EP, and Donald Tusk, Polish Prime Minister and President in office of the Council of the EU.
José Manuel Barroso stated that this signature of the Accession Treaty was an outstanding moment for the EU and for Croatia, recalling the hard work undertaken by Croatia to meet the strict conditions of the enlargement process. He also underlined the significance of EU enlargement policy, highlighting the positive implications of Croatian accession for other countries in the region and for the EU as such. The President added that a clear signal was sent to Croatia's neighbours, the signal that the European offer was on the table; that hard work paid off; that the benefits of European integration were within reach if the partners stayed the course.
This clip also shows the group photo of the Heads of State or Government of the EU.
