EPP meetings with the participation of José Manuel Barroso

José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Marseille where he participated in the European People's Party (EPP) meeting and in the 20th Congress of the EPP. He made a statement on the forthcoming Brussels European Council of 09/12/2011. In his speech entitled "Time for political courage" ("Le temps du courage politique") he stressed that a stronger Europe was a Europe that needed stronger institutions and not a Europe that divided institutions and its Member States. The President added that if we won't build in addition to national democracies a European democracy, the true sovereignty would be the sovereignty of the market without any kind of control, against the European sovereignty and European citizens. He concluded saying "Yes to sovereignty but shared sovereignty".
