Young people have been hardest hit by the economic crisis as they often lack the experience and skills to be competitive. Today one in five young Europeans cannot find a job. To emphasise the value of young people in the workforce, the Youth@Work action aims to show that thanks to their fresh take on the world, young people often have innovative ideas and energy.
In Lithuania, around 35% of young people aged between 15-24 years old are unemployed. Martynas Barkauskas, 19, studies political science at Vilnius University. Thanks to the help of the Lithuanian Public Employment Service, he found a job in parallel with his studies in a food company.
