On 16/09/2010, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, gave a joint press conference after the European Council of Brussels. This press conference focused on economic governance, on the reform of financial markets and also in the way of handling these issues globally from the G-20 to the relations with main strategic partners. They also discussed the Roma situation and José manuel Barroso explained that the EC fulfiled its role as guardian of the treaties. He added that it was unacceptable any kind of discrimination against ethnic minorities in Europe. But acknowledged that there have been some things said out of order, even if the EC could itself complain about the use of rhetoric.Herman van Rompuy said about the Free Trade Agreements with South Korea that it was a good new for export industries and therefore for growth and jobs in Europe. On Pakistan, he explained that Europe want to give maximum support to this country after it was so severely trucked by devastating floods. He explained that more aid and more trade are needed.
