On 30/03/2008, the "Open Skies" agreement between the European Union and the United States of America comes into force. The EU's objective is to create an airspace without borders: an air services single market between the EU and the USA, within which investments can move freely and where European and American airline carriers can provide air services free of restrictions in both the EU and US internal markets.
This agreement will provide real benefits to the economies, consumers and airline companies from both sides of the Atlantic. The EU and the United States have reaffirmed their firm commitment to the continued negotiations in order to bring about an agreement on the second stage whose objective is to bring about further liberalisation.
In this context, the European Commission's audiovisual service is producing an infoclip which will illustrate:
- external and interior views of Brussels National Airport, Zaventem, Belgium;
- planes belonging to European and American airline companies at Brussels National Airport;
- interior views of John F Kennedy Airport, New York, United States of America. SHOTLIST
