Visit of Álvaro Uribe Vélez, President of Colombia, to Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for CFSP, and signature of an agreeement between Europol and Colombia
A cooperation agreement between Colombia and Europol was signed by Jorge Daniel Castro Castro, Director-General of the Colombian National Police, and Jürgen Storbeck, Director of Europol, in the presence of Álvaro Uribe Vélez, President of Colombia, and of Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for CFSP. The purpose of the agreement is to enhance the cooperation of the Member States, acting through Europol, and Colombia in preventing, detecting, suppressing, and investigating serious forms of international crime through the exchange of strategic and technical information. Colombia and Europol have agreed to enhance the co-operation, as laid down in this agreement. Besides this signature, Javier Solana and Álvaro Uribe Vélez have talked about several bilateral issues between Colombia and the EU, including the trade agreements, the fight against drugs, the peace process and the FARC.
