VNR: The Kouroupitos Case: the story of a waste site (rushes)
Controls are fine. Applying the law is better. Implementing European regulations is a real problem as regards the Environment. In July 2000, a Member State was ordered for the first time to pay a fine for not complying with European environmental laws : in the Chania prefecture in Crete Greece was penalised for bad waste management. Europe hopes to make an example by putting an end to this situation.
