The Audiovisual Production Unit of the European Commission has prepared a 60-minute video-dossier entitled "THE SCHENGEN CONVENTION" to mark the inauguration on 26th March of the "Schengen Information System". This is a computer network for Police co-operation as specified by the Schengen Convention and will interconnect seven of the nine signatories of the agreement. It permits the abolition of frontier controls on persons shifting them to a common external border.
