Visit of Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister, to José Manuel Barroso: joint press statement
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, received Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister, on 30 January 2013, at the European Commission in Brussels.
They discussed the upcoming European Council meeting to be held on 7 and 8 February where the European leaders will try to agree on the future European budget for 2014-2020.
Talks focused also on the Hungarian economy and budget, and announced Hungarian adjustment measures that would allow allowing the European Ministers for Finance to take a positive decision on the EDP (European Deficit Procedure) against Hungary upon its EU accession in 2004. The European Commission will publish its winter 2013 European Economic Forecast, which will include an estimate on Hungarian growth as well.
