EU/Russia Summit: common press conference by José Manuel Barroso, Herman van Rompuy and Vladimir Putin

On 4 June 2012, the 29th EU/Russia Summit took place in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. The EU was represented by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and by José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC. Russia was represented by Vladimir Putin, President of Russia. During this Summit, Leaders focused on bilateral relations, including the need to reinvigorate the negotiations on the New Agreement. The Summit also looked forward to the ratification of Russia’s WTO accession, and reconfirmed that all related commitments will be implemented. The leaders also discussed energy cooperation. The leaders also took note of the intensive work going on regarding the implementation of the Common Steps towards visa-free travel and discussed visa and mobility issues in general. The situation regarding human rights and the rule of law in Russia was also on the agenda. This video shows extracts from the press conference following the summit.
