European Competition Forum 2012: extracts from the keynote speech by José Manuel Barroso
On 2 February 2012, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, gave a keynote speech on the occasion of the first European Competition Forum organised by the European Commission. The Forum was designed to offer the opportunity of a debate on competition policy and to engage a wider audience beyond competition experts.
In this first edition, three main topics of discussion: the competition policy's contribution to growth and competitiveness, the possible reforms to State aid control to reinforce the internal market, and the unique competition-enforcement model developed in the EU over the decades.
This first European Competition Forum explored these and other aspects of competition policy and control.
