Visit of Traian Băsescu, President of Romania, to José Manuel Barroso: extracts from the joint press briefing

On 25 October 2011, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, met with Traian Băsescu, President of Romania, in Brussels. They discussed economic issues such as the recapitalisation of the Euro area banks, in preparation of the European Summit of October. The leaders also discussed the absorption capacity of Romania and José Manuel Barroso asked to Romania to intensify its work in that perspective. Another point for discussion was the Romania's accession to Schengen area. After their talks, the Officials held a joint press briefing.
