"The Future of European Labour Markets" conference: extracts from the opening session with the participations of László Andor, and Christopher Pissarides, 2010 Nobel Prize ® Laureate in Economics
On 10/03/2011 in Brussels, László Andor opened the conference entitled "The Future of European Labour Markets", which gathered around 200 academics, representatives of stakeholder organizations and senior policy-makers to debate the future of European labour markets with Christopher Pissarides, 2010 Nobel Prize ® Laureate in Economics.
The discussions covered the EU's Europe 2020 flagship initiative "Agenda for New Skills and Jobs", as well as the recently published draft Joint Employment Report. And the conference addressed three main issues: matching skills with demand and anticipating change, flexicurity in post-crisis labour markets, and the role of labour market policies and economic policy in ensuring a job-rich recovery.
The conference was opened by László Andor and was followed by a keynote speech by Professor Pissarides.
