José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, jointly opened the "Shared social responsibility" conference on 01/03/2011 in Brussels. The event was open to public authorities, researchers, NGOs, civil society, etc., and its aim was to give a thoroughly European focus to the reflection on the question of responsibilities in forging the future of the designs for democracy, social justice, poverty alleviation, sustainability and communal living.
